Fox Cities Retirement Village is a 26-Unit Senior Retired Life-Lease Community. This is a non-profit facility that houses seniors over the age of 62.
In 1977, Pastor Richard Mohl of St. Mark's Lutheran Church wanted to fulfill the need for senior housing in Neenah. At the time, Zion Lutheran Church in Oshkosh built an apartment complex for seniors who were retired which served as a model for St. Mark's to follow.
The church had land adjacent just south of the building that could be used for this purpose.
The first 14 apartment units were built and opened for occupancy in October of 1978. In 1986, 12 more apartments were added completing the 26-unit building. Currently, a Board of Directors oversees the needs of the residents and welcomes input from the residents.
This building complex was established to create low, affordable housing for seniors over the age of 62. You pay 20 years of prepaid rent up front which equates to about $600 a month. If you need to vacate early, you receive remaining prepaid money back.
